AMAdea Records interviewed Green Sun
26 May 2011 13:54
AR: Are you a fulltime producer/composer?

Green Sun: No, It is just a hobby

AR: What do you do when you are not Producing or Performing? Do you have any hobbies or other artistic pursuits?

Green Sun: I am working as a developer in software company called Micro Focus. As a hobby I like going to a gym.

AR: Who has been your biggest musical influence in your life?

Green Sun: Ther are many, depends on a period in my life. Mostly it were Enigma, Vangelis and Mike Oldfield

AR: Do you listen to other genres besides New Age/World/Chillout?

Green Sun: Not really, only during the driving I listen to the radio. If I put a CD it will be only New Age/World/Chillout.

AR: Was there ever a time when you were ready to throw in the towel and give up on a career in music? If so, what kept you going?

Green Sun: Not really, because it is just a hobby and not a career I really enjoying making music, so didn't have yet such a time.

AR: If for some reason, you could no longer produce music... what do you think you would do with your life?

Green Sun: I will find another hobby, maybe working in a garden :)

AR: If you could work with any one artist, who would be it and why?

Green Sun: It would be Vangelis. I think I can learn from him a lot, he is a genius.

AR: What do you think about the current status of the music industry?

Green Sun: I think that music should be given to the world for almost free. So it will be no piracy, but ofcourse then artist will have to search for another source of income.

AR: How important is the internet as producer for you?

Green Sun: It is the main source of everything. Procution tools, music skills, audience and more. Without it I would have stopped creating music.

AR: Tell us about your new album "The Page Of Life", could you tell us a bit about the process involved in the creation of it?

Green Sun: The album is recorded after my first child was born. There was a time for about a year that I have created only 2 tracks. Also during recording the album changed a bit the studio gear. The melody in "The sun has risen" was composed by my big sister when she was at the age of 16 and I was 11. Somehow I have remembered the melody and recreated it. The track "Michailo Lomonosov" is based on one of the themes from old russian movie with the same name. It's melody was always in my head and it was preaty easy to reproduce it. This track I have recorded for about 8 months, because of the break after the child was born.

AR: Is there any advices you have for new composers in your field trying to stand out in the music industry?

Green Sun: I found that it is really helpful at the first step to immitate the sound of a favorite artist. Then your own sound will be created. It is also important to to force the composing. If there are no ideas then just wait, do something else and the ideas will come. Also it is important that every track will have rememberable theme.

AR: Anything else you would like to share with us?

Green Sun: You guys in Amadea Records are doing a great job, just keep on! Thank you!

AR: Thank you Michael. We appreciate your time and effort to respond to our questions. We hope your fans will know more about you now and especially after this detailed interview. We wish you a good luck.
