ALBUM DESCRIPTION
Teresa Acquaviva is a native of the suburbs of Washington, DC. She became interested in piano at an early age and was writing her 'own little songs' by age 7. Though she had a love for the Classics, she constantly found herself bored and would often drift away from the printed page to experiment with her own melodic creations. In later years, a friend introduced her to the local cable television station, and she was commissioned to composing instrumental music for local cable TV news. Teresa has performed for countless weddings, retreats, events and services. In recent years, she has become a student of Jewish studies and has expanded her compositions to include Psalmtracks. Teresa and her husband, Michael, have three children and still reside in the Washington, DC area. They aspire to move to New Zealand in the near future -- a magical place which possesses an endless source of musical inspiration!

WHAT WE THINK ABOUT THIS ALBUM
This is definitely "ocean music". We can hear Teresa Acquaviva's expression of her feeling for the depths and the breadth of the ocean, for the calm moments and for the stormy moments. Calling this music "new-age" is confining it. Yes, it is new-age, and the pianist takes advantage of the freedom from classical form that the genre affords. But it goes beyond that, and many who generally have no interest in what they call "new age" may well enjoy this. This lady definitely has the classical knowledge and knows technically what she is doing, and the effect is breathtaking. If you enjoy evocations of the sea; if you enjoy classically flavored new age; if you enjoy the piano played in a manner that ranges from the intimate to large scale; you will treasure this CD.
