ALBUM DESCRIPTION
The vehement friendship between four young musicians inspired their newly launched album "Seven Days In Heaven" (2009). The band "D' Family & Friends" rocked the studio led by the irrational feeling that something unique is about to be born. It proved right the moment they started playing: this first album is an expression of their sense of freedom, mutual adoration and shared amusement. The band came out with the 8 songs only for less than 7 days. The female vocal is mellifluous and tender and yet vigorous and energetic. The guitars are coming from the heart. Most of the lyrics were written by Phil Jackson. The architectural studio "NewLevel Architects" (www.newlevel.bg) became the producer of this fledgling band.
D' Family & Friends will pull you into their music world rather easily. Behind this project stand the musicians from the Burgas-based duo D' Family (Zornitsa Dimitrova - vocal and Stanimir Dimitrov - acoustic guitar) and friends (Martin - drums and Miro - former of the band Jango Ze - bass guitar).
"Seven Days In Heaven" is pop motivated delivery with mixture of modern and rock-like, maybe a little funky. Some of the songs on this album are more poppy, alternative rock sounding with effects that some may describe as distorted sound that struck me as a slapping, funky sound. Vocals are strong and the lyrics meaningful and heart-felt. Lot's of introspect here. Our personal favorites on this CD are the 2nd selection "Just A Dream" and the 5th, "All We Do".
Overall the music is original and nice to sit down and relax to with your favorite beverage. But be aware, the songs are melodious. If you are after driving rhythms and loud guitars, this album isn't for you. But if what you want is a fantastic voice, thoughtful lyrics, and skilled arrangement, then you'll love this album. People deride "pop" music, and with good justification.
"Seven Days In Heaven" is a keeper. Every song is full of authentic feeling and there's not a superfluous or false note anywhere.
